Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata growth inhibition tests in accordance with:
- NF EN ISO 8692: Water quality – Fresh water algal growth inhibition test with unicellular green algae
- LD OECD 201: Freshwater alga and cyanobacteria, growth inhibition test
Purpose: To determine the concentration capable of inhibiting 50% (ECr50) of the growth of the unicellular alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata during 72 hours in controlled conditions.
Since the test is based on the observation of algal growth, it can also be useful in chronic toxicity tests. For these latter, the purpose is to determine the highest concentration that does not cause growth inhibition (NOEC) and the lowest concentration that does (LOEC).
